Following a meeting yesterday, the Berwick Rangers FC board released the following statement in regard to the entry of Rangers newco into the SFL:
“Berwick Rangers Board tonight agreed unanimously that should the new Rangers FC be admitted to the SFL for the new season, they would support a move directly into SFL Division Three. The Club has also taken on board the feelings of their Supporters Club, Supporters Trust and the countless individual fans who have contacted them directly. There will be no further statement from the club on this matter.”
The Trust commends the Board for their considered response which reflects the wishes of the majority of the Trust membership and the wider BRFC support. This is not necessarily something that would have happened under previous regimes at Shielfield and it is to the Board’s great credit that they have taken account of the strong feelings of supporters on what is a very emotive matter.
It is understood that Berwick Rangers FC will be represented at the crucial SFL meeting to be held at Hampden on Friday 13th July. Let’s hope that inauspicious date bucks the trend for bad luck. All being well, we’ll be hosting the Rangers newco on 25th August in a historic first league fixture between the two clubs.
