This Saturday, October 4th, Berwick Rangers are at home to Highland League club Formartine United in the Second Round of the Scottish F.A. Cup. The Aberdeenshire club, whose home ground is North Lodge Park in Pitmedden, won away to fellow Highland Leaguers Keith in the First Round in which Berwick, as a SPFL 2 club, had a bye. Formartine are currently second in the Highland League table, one point behind reigning champions Brora Rangers.
Formed in 1948, Formartine are one of three former Junior clubs which stepped up into the Highland League in 2009-10. They warmed up for their visit to Shielfield with a 4-2 home victory over Inverness side Clachnacuddin last Saturday ( Sept. 27th ).
In view of Berwick’s recent disappointing form which has yielded only two points from the last four SPFL games and Formartine having lost only once in the Highland League so far this season, Rangers can expect a tough tie.
