At a ceremony in the Guildhall in Berwick on Friday evening (July 4th), former Berwick Rangers player Stuart Markland was presented with a new electric wheelchair by Berwick Rangers Supporters Trust member Gemma Law (pictured below in blue). Gemma also handed over a cheque for £100 from the Trust to the Stuart Markland Disability Fund with Conrad Turner making a donation on behalf of Berwick Rangers Supporters Club.
The fund was organised by former Berwick players John Keith and Russell Craig. They were two of six ex-Berwick players present in addition to Stuart himself. Joining Russell Craig from the team which famously beat Glasgow Rangers in 1967 were Gordon Haig and sub Andy Rogers plus Ken Bowron and Jimmy Crease.
Now an associate director of Berwick Rangers FC Jimmy helped raise over £1,500 towards the cost of the new wheelchair with a fundraising event in his pub in Linlithgow.
