At last Saturday’s Trust Board meeting in ‘The Pilot Inn’, Berwick, membership secretary Bill Purvis reported that membership now equals the highest ever total of 245. This is due to a net gain of six new enrolments over the last month with fans joining from Berwick, Jedburgh and East Lothian.
Stuart Lee, who was elected to the Board at the Annual General Meeting on January 11th, attended his first Board meeting at which Brendan Thorburn from Berwick was also co-opted on to the Board. In particular, Brendan has offered his services in the IT field. Board membership now stands at eleven plus secretary Isla Barber.
A decision was also made about the money donated by spectators at the Trust-sponsored home match against Peterhead on Saturday, December 28th, 2013 which came to almost £1,800. After various options were considered, it was agreed that it should be used to help pay for new seats in the Main Stand at Shielfield. A block of 85 red seats needs replacing because a number are broken. As it is not possible to obtain individual replacements of the same colour all the red ones will have to be removed and more readily obtained yellow seats affixed instead. Bill Parkin, football club director with responsibility for ground improvements, club chairman Brian Porteous and finance officer Lyndsay Flannigan have all been informed and are happy with the Trust’s decision.
* The next meeting of Berwick Rangers Supporters Trust Board is scheduled for Saturday, March 22nd, 2014 again in ‘The Pilot Inn’, Low Greens, Berwick commencing at 11:00 a.m. In the afternoon, Berwick Rangers are at home to Clyde in SPFL 2.
