Don’t forget the Steven Notman Testimonial Match this Wednesday, November 15th when Berwick Rangers will play a Glasgow Rangers XI with a 7:45 p.m. kick off at Shielfield.
Stevie spoke to the Trust after Saturday’s home draw with Edinburgh City, a match he missed because of a rib injury. However, he is optimistic that he will be fit to play in his big game against what he expects to be a strong Rangers team.
Asked why Rangers and why at this time of the year, he explained. Whilst it would be an exaggeration to describe him as a diehard fan of the ‘Gers, all his family are keen followers of the Ibrox club. As for timing, saving the game for the end of the season could turn out to be something of a distraction should Berwick be in a situation similar to last season when they still faced the prospect of being involved in the relegation play off right until the end.
Stevie lives in Innerleithen and in 2011 had the honour of being the town’s Standard Bearer. A big help in arranging for Rangers to visit has been friend Craig Robertson who is on the staff of the Glasgow club and also lives in Peeblesshire in West Linton.
Steven’s daytime job is with car and lorry part distributors Dingbro in Galashiels. He has earned his testimonial for ten years service to Berwick Rangers, one on loan, the rest as a signed player.
Get along if you can. Admission: Adults £10, Child/Concessions £5.
