Berwick Rangers Supporters Trust has contributed towards the cost of new surfacing in the area of Shielfield Park inside and beyond the main turnstiles. The work was carried out by JEM Road Construction Ltd of Stanley, Co. Durham and spectators saw it for the first time at the home match against Clyde on Saturday, April 11th.
Berwick Rangers Supporters Club negotiated with the contractors prior to the work being done. Aware that the Trust was also keen to see an improvement in the surfacing in that part of the ground, the Supporters Club invited it to contribute towards the cost, a measure backed by the Trust Board.
The total bill for the work came to just under £3,200. Before the Clyde game, Trust chairman Michael Smyth handed over a cheque for £1,000 to Brian Parkin representing the Supporters Club which will cover the remainder of the cost.

**Trust officials Brendan Thorburn and Michael Smyth were busy before and at half time of the Clyde game collecting votes from members for this season’s Trust ‘Player of the Year’. Unlike last season’s one horse race won by Lee Currie, this year’s poll is developing into a closer contest. Voting to date indicates that at least three different players are in with a serious chance of winning.
Members still to vote can do so by e-mailing [email protected] no later than Sunday, April 19th, 2015.
