There will be free admission for spectators to Berwick Rangers’ Ladbrokes League 2 game versus Arbroath at Shielfield on Saturday, August 29th, 2015 ( k.o. 3:00 p.m. ). The match is being sponsored by Berwick Rangers Supporters Trust and free entry is part of the sponsorship arrangement between the Trust and the football club.
The last time the Trust sponsored a game was in December, 2013 when Peterhead were the visitors and it attracted the highest home crowd of the 2013-14 season. As on that occasion, Trust members will be taking a bucket collection at the Arbroath fixture inviting spectators to make a donation, the Trust deciding how any monies collected should be used to assist Berwick Rangers F.C.
Last season, after a flying start to the campaign, Arbroath did enough to qualify for the promotion play offs. In the final game of the regular season they inflicted a 5-0 hiding on Berwick at Gayfield. So there is plenty of incentive for Rangers’ new look team to put on a good performance and avenge that humiliation.
**Ahead of schedule, the Summer 2015 edition of Berwick Rangers Supporters Trust newsletter is now out. Distribution has already begun and most U.K. based members should receive their copies by this weekend ( Aug. 1st-2nd ). Copies are also available to non-members for £2. The Trust is indebted to Houndwood Crematorium for sponsoring and 24-7 Safety of Berwick for supporting production of this latest issue.
***After an encouraging performance away to St.Mirren last Saturday ( July 25th ) in the Petrofac Training Cup, Berwick Rangers are at home to another Championship side, Alloa Athletic, this Saturday, August 1st in the First Round of the Scottish League Cup. Kick off at Shielfield is at 3:00 p.m.
