Unfortunately, it was not to be a double Cup success for Berwick teams at the weekend as a battling Tweedmouth Rangers were knocked out of the Football Nation Cup 6-3 by Hawick Royal Albert on a windy Old Shielfield. Three times, the East of Scotland league side fought back to within a goal of their opponents, at 2-1, 3-2 and 4-3 before the Lowland League team pulled away with two goals in the final eight minutes.
Tweedmouth’s first score came from Kyle Murray with a header off Connor Cowens’ corner to make it 2-1 at the interval. Stuart Briggs bagged the second after Cowens broke up the right and Cowens claimed the third himself with a decisive half volley following good work by Michael Robinson in midfield.
